He debuted on Food Network’s “Pitmasters,” a new program that tests the skills, creativity, and endurance of top barbecue talent, with the first episode airing on July 13 and the second on July 20. Partnering with Al Frugoni, who brings expertise in Argentinian live-fire cooking, Yoder faced the intense pressures of the show with determination and innovation.
In the opening episode, the competition transported contestants to a remote Utah wilderness, where nine two-person teams were challenged to construct their own pits and produce a family-style barbecue platter within nine hours. The judging panel, composed of renowned culinary figures Andrew Zimmern, Jess Pryles, Moe Cason, and Ernest Servantes, evaluated each team’s skill, creativity, and execution. To enhance the flavor profile, all dishes were complemented with Chimichurri sauce. As the nine-hour clock expired, Yoder and Frugoni embraced in celebration, knowing they had delivered a comprehensive and technically accomplished set of dishes.
The judges responded positively to their performance.
