The latest episode of MasterChef Season 16 raised the pressure dramatically as contestants faced an Eggs Benedict mystery box challenge that quickly turned into one of the most chaotic episodes of MasterChef: Global Gauntlet so far.

In the episode titled “Eggs Benedict,” the home cooks entered the kitchen to find mystery boxes containing only eggs. Judges Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry, and Joe Bastianich challenged contestants to create unique, culturally inspired versions of the classic brunch dish.

With another immunity pin on the line, the four global regions — Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Americas — continued battling for control early in the competition. But before the cooking even began, contestant Aishu Challa completely changed the atmosphere of the challenge.

After winning the previous stadium challenge, Aishu was safe from elimination and watching from the balcony. However, she was also given a powerful advantage: the ability to handicap one team.

Without hesitation, she targeted Team Europe.

The team was forced to make hollandaise sauce using tiny whisks, dramatically slowing down one of the most delicate technical elements of the challenge. Aishu openly admitted she wanted to start “knocking down enemies,” instantly creating one of the season’s biggest strategic controversies.

Fans immediately split online. Some praised her as a “villain strategist” finally bringing real gameplay into MasterChef, while others felt she became too aggressive too early.

Despite the chaos surrounding Team Europe, the biggest surprise of the night came from Heidi Muston of Team Africa.

Heidi delivered what many fans are calling the episode’s biggest underdog breakout performance with her Crawfish Eggs Benedict featuring peri peri hollandaise.

The judges were overwhelmingly impressed.

Gordon praised the creativity of incorporating peri peri flavors into the sauce, while Tiffany Derry called it one of the lightest and most enjoyable Benedict dishes she had ever tasted. Joe Bastianich described the dish as “restaurant quality.”

When Heidi was announced as the challenge winner, she visibly broke down in tears, admitting she never expected to win. Fans reacted extremely positively online, with many viewers saying the emotional moment created one of the strongest underdog narratives of the season so far.

Meanwhile, several contestants struggled badly during the challenge.

Nico Cosereanu experienced one of the most awkward moments of the episode after Joe Bastianich publicly corrected him during judging. Nico described his pastry as bomboloni, but Joe immediately fired back:

“Bomboloni is a doughnut — this is a croissant.”

The uncomfortable exchange instantly went viral among fans, with many calling it one of the harshest public call-outs of the season.

But the night’s biggest disaster belonged to Camilo Chavez III from Team Americas.

Camilo’s Torta Benedict with chorizo beans and spicy hollandaise was heavily criticized by all three judges. Gordon Ramsay bluntly described it as one of the ugliest Eggs Benedict dishes he had ever seen, while Tiffany Derry criticized the messy plating and lack of spice balance.

Joe Bastianich delivered perhaps the harshest critique of all, saying the dish completely lost the cultural identity it was supposed to celebrate.

Fans online quickly described the performance as a total “self-destruction” because the challenge specifically required both technical egg execution and strong cultural interpretation — two areas where Camilo reportedly failed completely.

At the end of the episode, Camilo became the latest contestant eliminated from the competition.

Following his elimination, Camilo emotionally reflected on his journey, explaining that he originally joined MasterChef because of a challenge from his daughter, but the experience eventually became something much bigger.

He also expressed pride in representing both the Americas and Mexican culture throughout the competition.

The episode ended with a preview of next week’s first major team challenge, where the remaining contestants will prepare meals for 100 young soccer players ahead of the upcoming World Cup-themed event — with Heidi now holding major power after her victory.
