After a brutal seventh episode that eliminated Susie Bulloch and Christie Vanover from the competition, John & Connie and Esaul & Grecia have officially emerged as the final two teams standing on Pitmasters Season 1.

The competition now heads into its decisive final chapter with Episode 8, titled “The Final Burn,” scheduled to air on August 31, 2026. The remaining teams will face one last high-pressure test that could determine who is crowned the inaugural Pitmasters Champion.

For the finale, John & Connie and Esaul & Grecia will go head-to-head in an ambitious five-course barbecue tasting menu. Rather than relying on a single signature barbecue plate, the finalists will need to demonstrate range, consistency and technical precision across five separate courses.

With the championship on the line, every element will matter — from the meat and smoke to the sauces, sides and overall progression of the tasting menu. After surviving seven episodes of increasingly difficult challenges, there will be nowhere left to hide in the final cook.

The stakes are also significant financially.

According to the show’s official information, the overall prize package for the season reaches $50,000, with $30,000 going to the team that wins the Final Burn. That means the finale represents not only the chance to make history as the first Pitmasters champion, but also a major financial reward for the final team standing.

John & Connie enter the finale with plenty of momentum after a pivotal Episode 7. Their performance allowed them to secure $8,000 and, more importantly, punch their ticket to the championship round.

Meanwhile, Esaul & Grecia managed to survive the same brutal episode and keep their championship hopes alive. With only two teams remaining, they now have one final opportunity to prove that their consistency throughout the competition can carry them all the way to the title.

Their paths to the finale could hardly be more dramatic.

Episode 7 saw Susie & Christie fall just short after reaching the Top 3, with their ambitious Filipino-inspired whole hog ultimately failing to meet the judges’ standards for tenderness. Their elimination opened the door for John & Connie and Esaul & Grecia to become the final two teams.

Now, the entire season comes down to one final burn.
