GREEN GAFFE Polanski repeatedly refuses to apologise over sick guillotine post – as Farage blasts ‘he must face consequences’

ZACK Polanski has repeatedly refused to apologise to Nigel Farage after he reposted an image of an activist wearing a T-shirt calling for the Reform chief’s decapitation.

Mr Farage has now blasted the Green Party leader and said “he must face consequences” for his “appalling decisions”.

The picture – posted on Monday – showed a man in a black top emblazoned with a guillotine and the words “we’re only making plans for Nigel”.

Mr Polanski deleted the image after its contents were “brought to his attention” and insisted he “does not support this type of dangerous message”.

But Mr Polanski said he would not apologise for the “inadvertent mistake” three times when speaking to BBC Newsnight last night.

He said: “Well, if I’d done it deliberately I’d be apologising but because this was a mistake.”

When asked to apologise a second time, the Greens leader claimed Mr Farage had been “fundamentally dishonest” by cropping the image to make it seem like Mr Polanski had posted it himself.

At the third chance, he said: “I think it’s important that I draw a line and don’t play his game… It is important that he’s kept safe, it is important we condemn political violence, but I also recognise this as the political attack that it is.”

The party leader claimed he accepted the collaborative post because he saw people partying at the Green conference.

When he flicked through the images, he only noticed the man was wearing a rainbow hat he added.

Mr Farage said he has reported Mr Polanski to the Metropolitan Police and accused him of incitement to murder.

Mr Polanski said that it would be “odd” for the police to contact him over what he insisted was a mistake.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Mr Farage has slammed the lack of response in the wake of Ann Widdecombe‘s murder.

He said: “No apology, no knock on the door, no wider condemnations, nothing to see here, move along please.”

Mr Farage said he had also reported the post to the London Assembly where Mr Polanski is a member.

“Because when it comes to political double standards and the two-tier policing of our public life, enough is enough,” he added.

He continued: “Now, less than three weeks after Ann’s murder, we have witnessed the grisly spectacle of a party leader posting about how funny it would be to guillotine the leader of the party she supported.

“Sorry but I’m not laughing.”

Mr Farage said: “Polanski must face the consequences of his appalling decisions. Political violence is real. It is serious. It needs dealing with.”

Fellow Reform members have blasted Mr Polanski and branded the leader a hypocrite.

Reform’s Zia Yusuf added: “This is incitement to murder. It should be treated as such by the police.”

And Reform’s Robert Jenrick slammed: “These people are sick.
This went out to hundreds of thousands of followers.

“How ironic, when Zack talks endlessly about being kind and loving to each other.”

The creators of the guillotine T-shirt have since removed it from sale.

Sabcat Printing were selling the £20 top showing the execution method with the words “We’re only making plans for Nigel”.

But the company – part of an “anarchist co-operative” based out of a warehouse in Manchester – claimed it was “satire”.

A Green Party spokesman said: “After attending a public event, Zack accepted a request to collaborate on a post with several images.

“Once this image was brought to his attention he immediately unshared the post.

“He unequivocally does not support this type of dangerous message.”

The Met Police said: “Earlier today – Monday, 27 July – we received a third-party report relating to an image shared on social media.

“We take reports of this nature extremely seriously, and officers are conducting enquiries into the matter.”

Last week, Joshua Kerry, 28, was charged with one count of murder over Widdecombe’s death.

Farage has also since revealed he gets 300 threats a month after an Afghan migrant with an AK47 tattoo on his face was jailed for threatening to kill him earlier this month.

The Reform leader has pushed for his party’s politicians to be given beefed-up security.
