Adam Sandler called the police in Nantucket, Massachusetts just 48 hours after officiating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s much talked about wedding to play basketball

The 59-year-old comedian presided over the star-studded ceremony in Madison Square Garden on Friday; the power couple are seen in LA back in March

The public safety dispatcher ended up suggesting the actor head to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road where he joined a game with some locals including Andrew Kesler who said he and his friends were playing a game when Sandler asked to jump in.

Kesler told the Nantucket Current: ‘Adam Sandler rolled in a car and started playing pick ups with the boys. He’s like “guys let me stretch I’m going to hop in.”‘

The local resident complimented the A-lister’s game on the court as he said: ‘Great passing and playmaking, decent lay-ups, hesitated to shoot the ball.’

Sandler has obvious love for the game as he was seen playing pick-up basketball on outdoor courts in the middle of a New York City heat wave just hours before officiating the wedding of the year.

On Saturday, Sandler and his family headed to his home state of New Hampshire for Fourth of July Festivities.

It was then when Sandler sent Swift fans into overdrive as he spoke out for the first time after officiating the singer’s wedding to NFL star Kelce by sharing a ‘cryptic’ July 4th post.

On Friday night at exactly 7:30pm, the couple shared the news that they had officially become husband and wife in blockbuster style, lighting up the iconic music venue with video ads which read ‘JUST&T MARRIED,’ a romantic nod to their shared initials.

In a press release, they also revealed that Sandler officiated the ceremony in front of 1,000 celebrity guests.

Just two days later, Sandler landed in Nantucket, Massachusetts with his family where he made a call to the Nantucket Police Department’s non-emergency line to ask where he could join a pick-up basketball game

George Stephanopoulos praised Sandler’s performance as ‘funny and touching’ afterwards.

While the big event seemed to be all people were talking about, on Saturday morning, the comedian took to X to address a different subject entirely.

He posted a message to commemorate the July 4th holiday, notably staying quiet about the Swift and Kelce wedding.

‘Happy 250th America!’ Sandler wrote on X, along with a photo of a 20-star American flag from 1818.

In response, many Swifties were utterly confused.

‘Don’t care. Violate that NDA and give us something,’ one X user wrote.

Another typed: ‘Okay but I just have one question…’

‘Casually posting this like you didn’t officiate the wedding of the century last night,’ someone else chimed in.

 ‘How was the royal wedding last night?’ joked a different user. ‘I heard you hit it out of the park. Congrats!’

Another sarcastically quipped: ‘Do anything fun this weekend?’

The actor has yet to say anything about officiating Swift and Kelce’s wedding.

Sandler was described as a ‘friend’ of the newlyweds, who forewent bridesmaids and groomsmen and were both dressed in Christian Dior Haute Couture.

The Wedding Singer star has known Swift since at least 2023, when he took his daughters Sadie, 20, and Sunny, 17, to the premiere of her Eras Tour concert movie and met the pop superstar in person.

Two years later, Kelce had a shirtless cameo in Sandler’s movie Happy Gilmore 2 and the funnyman described the athlete as ‘a great actor and a great human.’

Sandler appeared on the Kelce brothers’ podcast New Heights in 2024 and rhapsodized about his family’s enthusiasm over Kelce’s romance with Swift.

‘You guys being together, I mean… when you guys first started dating, my God, was my family like: “Yes! Look how good they are together, he’s a gentleman! And she’s having so much fun with him!”‘ Sandler shared. ‘Like any time Taylor is laughing with you, my whole f***ing family is like high-fiving.’

When Sandler and his daughters attended the Eras Tour movie premiere in 2023, they received a hug from Swift herself, in footage obtained by Deadline.

Late last year – when Swift and Kelce were already engaged – Sandler confessed he had been ‘jumpy’ at the idea of meeting her ‘because of what she means to my kids.’

He explained that he was afraid he might ‘blow’ the experience for Sunny and Sadie by ‘talking too loud’ or failing to ‘act as cool as I can.’

Sandler shared that ‘there’s not a word’ of her songs ‘that my kids don’t know,’ adding: ‘I know ’em too, by the way, but they know them inside and out.’

Comparing her to the Beatles, he raved about her music on Conan O’Brien’s podcast Team Coco, saying that ‘there’s not a single song you skip’ on her albums.

By the time he gave that interview, he had already worked with Kelce on Happy Gilmore 2, the Netflix follow-up to his classic 1996 golf comedy Happy Gilmore.
