Even while serving a life sentence and being held under strict security measures after the shocking Southport tragedy, Axel Rudakubana’s alleged violent behavior has continued to raise serious concerns. New charges accusing the 19-year-old of multiple attacks against prison staff have revealed further disturbing allegations about his conduct while behind bars. The latest developments have intensified scrutiny surrounding the convicted killer, who was previously sentenced for the murders of three young girls and the attempted murders of several others during the 2024 attack.

Axel Rudakubana, who is now 19 years old, has been charged with three separate offences linked to alleged attacks on staff members at HMP Belmarsh. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that he faces accusations including assault on an emergency worker, attempted grievous bodily harm, and the unauthorized possession of an offensive weapon inside the prison.

The alleged incidents reportedly occurred in 2025, only months after Rudakubana was sentenced to life imprisonment for the devastating attack that shocked the nation. He was given a minimum term of 52 years for the murders of nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, six-year-old Bebe King, and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, as well as the attempted murders of eight other children, dance class instructor Leanne Lucas, and businessman John Hayes.

The original attack took place on July 29, 2024, during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. The incident resulted in the deaths of three children and left many others injured. The case quickly became one of the most widely reported criminal cases in the UK, with Rudakubana eventually admitting responsibility and receiving one of the longest sentences ever imposed on a young offender in England.

According to allegations now being investigated, Rudakubana was involved in several violent incidents while imprisoned at HMP Belmarsh. One of the most serious claims states that in May 2025, he used a kettle inside his cell to heat water before allegedly throwing boiling water over a prison officer. The incident was among the events that contributed to further police investigations into his behavior while in custody.

The Metropolitan Police said Rudakubana was formally charged on July 28, 2026, almost two years after the Southport killings. The charges relate to alleged incidents on May 6, May 8, June 26, and October 28, 2025.

The accusations include an alleged assault against an emergency worker on May 6, 2025, an attempted grievous bodily harm offence two days later, possession of an offensive weapon while in prison on June 26, and another alleged assault on an emergency worker on October 28.

Rudakubana is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court through a video link on September 11. The proceedings will address the new allegations separately from the sentence he is already serving for the Southport attack.

The latest charges come shortly after the Ministry of Justice confirmed that Rudakubana had been transferred from prison to Broadmoor psychiatric hospital. The move was made under procedures that allow prisoners who present significant risks and who cannot be safely managed in a traditional prison environment due to mental health concerns to be transferred to secure psychiatric facilities.

Broadmoor, located in Berkshire, is one of the UK’s three high-security psychiatric hospitals and has treated some of the country’s most notorious offenders throughout its history. Unlike prisons, secure hospitals operate under a medical model where individuals are treated as patients rather than prisoners. However, patients remain subject to strict controls and are required to participate in treatment programs and therapy.

Under the Mental Health Act, officials acting on behalf of the Justice Secretary must follow the recommendations of qualified clinical professionals when a transfer to a secure hospital is considered necessary. The purpose of such a move is to provide appropriate medical treatment while maintaining public safety.

Individuals placed in secure psychiatric facilities are required to engage with treatment plans, assessments, and rehabilitation programs before any decision is made regarding their future. If medical professionals determine that a person no longer requires hospital treatment, the law allows for them to be transferred back to prison to continue serving their sentence.

Rudakubana’s transfer and the new charges against him have added another chapter to a case that has already caused widespread grief and public concern. Authorities continue to investigate the allegations involving prison staff while ensuring that legal proceedings follow the appropriate process. The latest accusations, if proven, could further highlight concerns about his behavior and the level of risk he may pose while in custody.

THEY HAVE PAID THE PRICE—BUT THE PUBLIC IS STILL NOT SATISFIED! A mother and her boyfriend, who abused and murdered her two-year-old daughter, were sentenced in court yesterday. But the punishment they received has left many people following the case feeling that justice still has not been fully served. Alexandra Walker, 26, and Harrison Simpson, 22, were sentenced at Teesside Crown Court after carrying out a horrific campaign of violence against Walker’s young daughter. Little Isabelle Welsh tragically collapsed at her home in Teesside last September after suffering a catastrophic head injury and died in hospital the following day. The court heard that Isabelle had suffered 21 broken bones in the weeks leading up to her death. While the toddler lay dying, her mother, Walker, delayed calling the emergency services. Instead, she smoked a cigarette and searched online: “Why is my toddler bleeding?” The case sparked widespread outrage across Britain, with many demanding that the two adults—described by some as monsters disguised as parents—receive the harshest punishment the law could impose. However, when the sentences were finally announced, many members of the public said they simply could not believe what they were hearing.
