Vicky Myers has announced she is set to get married in real life just months after her Coronation Street character tied the knot on screen.

The soap star, 50, plays DS Lisa Connor-Swain on the ITV series and she married Carla Connor (Alison King) in the show’s first female same-sex wedding.

But off screen, Vicky revealed she is also settling down with her secret boyfriend, who does not appear on her social media.

Vicky shared the news in response to a troll who was accusing her of keeping her partner hidden and out of the public spotlight.

In response to a now deleted tweet, Vicky wrote: ‘He’s actually my fiancé.’

It is the first time that Vicky has clarified whether she is in a relationship and fans shared their delight at her happy news.

Vicky’s on-screen marriage ran into all sorts of issues when they almost had to cancel their nuptials when the venue cancelled at the last minute.

They managed to salvage the day by altering the plans to marry at Underworld.

Speaking about the calamitous day with Digital Spy: ‘It’s something that Ryan says, that Carla had said to him.

‘It’s basically about how Carla just wants to marry Lisa. Any hour, any venue will do! And that sets something off in Lisa. She realises, well, we don’t need all of this big fuss, which Carla didn’t particularly want anyway.

‘It was more about the intimacy between the two of them.’

Vicky has also appeared in several other TV shows over the years including Ackley Bridge, Casualty and Unforgotten.
