Shockingly Cruel: BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty appeared on live TV with a bruised and battered face, nearly in tears, and the truth behind it left everyone speechless. It all began during her morning jog, when an unexpected incident took place: ‘I NEVER EXPECTED THIS TO HAPPEN TO ME!’

Naga Munchetty was not presenting BBC Breakfast yesterday, so viewers were spared a painful sight.

‘I fell over running,’ explains the 51-year-old, who lives in Hertfordshire. ‘It was bad, bad, bad – and very annoying.

‘I’ll recover, but I’m bruised and battered with a little bit of blood here and there.

‘I was running on a very gravelly country lane and I automatically threw my arms out to cushion the fall.

‘I’m not sure if I have gravel embedded in the skin of my palm – it’s not massively deep but I don’t want to stick a pin in to try and dig it out.’

Naga vowed she would never run the London Marathon again after injuring her leg on the course in 2013.

It comes after last month Naga spoke out about being victim to a deepfake scam.

The BBC newsreader revealed ‘smart, conniving, manipulative, wicked’ scammers put her head on a naked body to use ‘as clickbait to drag people into a scam site’.

Speaking in The Times, Naga candidly admitted: ‘I wasn’t upset that my face was on a naked body, because I knew it was fake, but the fact that it was being used to lure people into being scammed made me so mad.’

In February last year, Naga spoke out about the images, saying: ‘Paid-for ads are popping up across X and Facebook, some including crudely mocked-up images of me naked – my face badly photoshopped onto someone else’s body.’

She revealed the image was made to look like a BBC News article, before those who clicked were sent to a scam cyber trading website.

Her discussion of the scam came after Naga said ‘people don’t know how to disagree with each other anymore and you’re either with me or you’re not’ amid the BBC’s bullying probe.

She faces an uncertain future at the broadcaster after they reportedly instigated a formal investigation following accusations of bullying against her.

In August, TV sources claimed several colleagues had logged concerns over her ‘hard’ behaviour on the breakfast show, as well as on her Radio 5 Live show. It was then reported in November, the broadcaster launched a formal investigation.

In a recent interview, Naga spoke of people now forming their own opinions on her as well as being subject to terrible racist abuse from trolls on social media.

Naga told The Times: ‘People are deciding: you’re either with me or you’re not. It feels like we’re unlearning how to disagree agreeably with each other. That’s frightening. The way we’re interacting with other people feels so tense.’

Naga went on to say how she has been forced to block social media users after being subjected to a barrage of online hate.

She said: ‘I block a lot of people. Someone commented on my Instagram post about giving blood saying, ‘Do they accept Indian blood?’ If it looks like a message is going to be abusive, I don’t read it. If it’s some fool shouting into the ether, let them. It’s not my job to change their views.’

The interview came after the presenter was accused of making a sly dig at BBC Breakfast’s weather host Carol Kirkwood on her last day on air.
