Reality television personality Gemma Owen has confirmed that she and her boyfriend Red Morgan have ended their relationship, revealing that the separation happened during an especially difficult period in her personal life. The former Love Island star explained that the couple decided to go their separate ways shortly after the unexpected death of someone close to their family.
Speaking in a recent vlog, Gemma, 23, shared that she had received heartbreaking news about a close family friend who passed away suddenly. She said that the loss occurred around the same time that she and Red, 22, made the decision to end their romance, although she chose not to reveal further details because both situations were deeply personal.
The daughter of former England footballer Michael Owen explained that the breakup was not the result of a major disagreement. Instead, she described it as a mutual decision between two people who realised they were moving in different directions and wanted different things from the relationship.

Gemma reassured fans that there was no hostility between them, saying that she and Red remain on friendly terms. She explained that they reached a point where continuing the relationship without being fully aligned would not have been fair to either person.
Following the split, Gemma said she has been concentrating on herself and spending more time with her family and friends while dealing with what has been a challenging period. She admitted that the combination of personal loss and the end of her relationship had made the past few weeks and months particularly difficult.
Gemma and Red first became publicly linked after they were seen together during a luxury holiday in Dubai in 2025. Their relationship attracted attention partly because of Red’s background as the son of businessman Steve Morgan, the founder of housebuilding company Redrow and former chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Outside of his family connections, Red Morgan has also built a reputation as a talented equestrian. He has competed in showjumping and represented Great Britain at youth level in European competitions.
Steve Morgan is one of Britain’s best-known property entrepreneurs. He founded Redrow and has been recognised among the country’s wealthiest business figures, with his fortune estimated in the hundreds of millions of pounds.
Although their relationship has come to an end, Gemma’s comments suggest that the pair parted ways respectfully. She has now chosen to focus on her own wellbeing and supporting those around her as she moves forward after a difficult chapter in her life.
