PURE CRUELTY Inside woman’s squalid house of horrors full of poo where three neglected dogs had to be put to sleep after rescue

THESE shocking images show the faeces-strewn home of a cruel dog owner who let her pets live in squalor.

Michelle Batty, from Preston, Lancashire, neglected her dogs so badly three of them had to be put to sleep due to foot and leg lesions.

Pictures of her filthy property show litter covering her living room floor, with discarded cans of lager sitting on the mantelpiece.

In a different image, one of her poor dogs’ overgrown toenails can be seen digging into its own paws. And another one of Batty’s dogs was bleeding and oozing fluid from its toes due to the neglect.

Batty, 48, has now been banned from owning animals for six years and must complete 100 hours of unpaid work.

Police discovered the shocking conditions during a visit to Batty’s home on October 6 last year, with officers calling the RSPCA for help.

Describing the horrifying scene, RSPCA Deputy Chief Inspector Kelly Nix said: “I was immediately hit by the smell of urine and faeces at the property.

“Buddy’s legs were bent backwards and his nails were overgrown with some curling around into his pads. I tried to encourage him to walk, but he was wobbly and his legs were dragging.

“Finn was also struggling to walk and I could see all his nails had curled over into his pads causing open wounds, while Tilly had open sores on her back toes.”

Some of the pooches had been in pain for weeks, with Buddy unable to walk on his back legs or control his bladder.

Tilly was also missing toenails and parts of her toe bones.

The vet who inspected the dogs said: “All four dogs did not have their needs met as the property in which they were living was filthy with faeces and urine-covered floors.”

Batty, who had no previous convictions, revealed to officers at the scene that she had not taken her pets to a vet, despite their condition.

Her four dogs were seized and taken to RSPCA Greater Manchester Animal Hospital after the police visit. The one healthy dog from the group has now been rehomed, with the others put down.

Preston Magistrates’ Court heard that Batty was remorseful for her actions during her sentencing on July 15.

Speaking after the hearing, Deputy Chief Inspector Nix said: “These poor dogs were left without veterinary care in dreadful conditions at the defendant’s property.

“Some of them already had health issues and the failure to take care of them and address the filth and squalor they were living in made matters worse.”
