‘WARNING TO ALL’ Heartbroken dad of man, 21, knifed to death at beauty spot reveals why he was there & says horror can ‘happen to anyone’
THE dad of a young man who was fatally stabbed at a London beauty spot has revealed why his son was there, saying “this can happen to anybody”.
Finbar Sullivan, 21, tragically died after being stabbed at the viewing point on Primrose Hill, North London, on Tuesday evening.
Cops rushed to the scene having received reports of a fight at 6.41pm and found Finbar with stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man, who police believe is in his mid-20s, was taken to hospital with stab wounds, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
The Metropolitan Police said no arrests have so far been made.
An eyewitness said the park was packed with people enjoying the warm sunny weather on Tuesday evening.
“Suddenly we heard this commotion from behind us, and a big brawl kicked off – people were throwing punches, people were screaming at others to stop,” they told the Daily Mail.
The anonymous witness added: “There were lots of people involved in the fight, most of them looked about 18 or 19.”
Finbar was a videographer for rap artists in the UK and frequently posted his work on social media.
Dad Christopher Sullivan, 65, who set up Soho’s infamous Wag Club, said his son was a “middle-class kid with long hair” who lived with him in Maida Vale.
He told The Telegraph: “He doesn’t go out. He just stays in. He goes and does his shoots and edits his videos… He doesn’t drink and he’s not that type of person, he’s here six nights a week.
“There’s an audience out there that should be aware that this can happen to anybody, white or black, in the most upmarket area. It’s a warning to us all.”
Primrose Hill is an up-market location in the borough of Camden, where homes frequently sell for multi-million pound figures.
The popular park is known for its sweeping views across the London skyline and was busy on Tuesday evening as Londoners and tourists flocked there to soak up the warm weather.
A video circulated on social media which appeared to show several young men fighting at the viewpoint with bystanders screaming in horror.
The footage shows a man in a dark grey tracksuit appearing to pull out a knife and charge towards another youth before backing away.
Finbar’s heartbroken dad, founder of 1980s band Blue Rondo à la Turk, said his son had recently got a new camera for his 21st birthday and had gone up to the hill to do some filming.
He said he got a shocking call around 6.30pm that his son had been stabbed – he rushed to the park but was unable to get in.
Christopher believed his son may have been targeted because of his camera.
He added Finbar had been with his friend, who had been stabbed in the back and hands as he attempted to fend off the attackers.
Christopher said his son was not part of a gang, adding he was a “studious kid” who spent his time watching films and editing videos.
The devastated father said his son could never be replaced, revealing “it’s the worst tragedy I could ever imagine”.
Christopher told the Daily Mail the attack had been an “indiscriminate stabbing”, insisting his son was not a gang member.
He added: “It’s Primrose Hill, for God’s sake… it’s like Hyde Park. It’s not somewhere you expect this.”
This comes after 16-year-old schoolboy Harry Pitman tragically died after being stabbed in the neck in the same park on New Years Eve in 2023.
He was murdered by fellow teen Areece Lloyd-Hall, who was jailed for at least 16 years for the Harry’s death.
The schoolboy was fatally stabbed with a large hunting knife on Primrose Hill, where Finbar also sadly died on Tuesday.
Musician Christopher founded The Wag Club in 1982. It was a destination for celebs including Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Stevie Wonder.
Finbar followed in his father’s creative footsteps, studying at the London Film Academy.
In recent years he filmed and produced music videos for UK drill rappers.
One of the artists he had worked with, GGL Wuni, paid an emotional tribute to Finbar last night, writing: “My brother, my family, I will never let your name fade.
“The most clean-hearted guy I’ve ever met, always turned up for me without a miss.”
Det Insp Andy Griffin, who is leading the investigation, said: “Finbar’s family have suffered a devastating loss and our thoughts are with them as they navigate this very challenging time.
“Our investigation is progressing at pace and we are following several lines of inquiry. This incident occurred in a busy, public park and there may be many witnesses who can help us piece together what happened.
“We are aware of footage circulating on social media around the time of the incident, and urge anyone who has any information, including photos or videos, which could support the investigation to urgently contact us.”
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the area, further reassured worried locals that “there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days”.
