MEGHAN WAS HIT WITH A WARNING THE MOMENT SHE SET FOOT BACK IN BRITAIN — AND SHE MAY ALREADY BE LOSING BADLY. Prince Harry and Meghan are reportedly excited to return to the UK after six years away. The Royal Family has remained publicly silent, but intense tension is said to be hanging over the palace because the couple’s return means every move the royals make could once again come under even greater public scrutiny. But experts believe the monarchy may not be the only one forced to deal with the fallout. Meghan herself could be walking into a deeply stressful situation for one very specific reason — and Harry may be the only person in this entire story with something to smile about…

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to return to Britain has been framed as a dramatic reversal after six years of building an independent life in the United States. But the more revealing question may not be why they came back. It may be which one of them stands to benefit most from the move.

According to NewsNation, broadcaster Mark Dolan believes the answer is Harry.

Dolan described the Sussexes’ return as “the biggest thing since Megxit” and argued that the move creates far more losers than winners. In his view, the monarchy, Prince William, Catherine and Meghan all face new complications, while Harry is the one person whose position could materially improve.

That argument begins with geography.

In California, Meghan had the advantage of familiarity, career infrastructure and personal visibility. Dolan pointed to her Netflix work, her social media presence and the fact that California is her home state. Harry, by contrast, was living thousands of miles from the institution, family and environment that had defined most of his life.

Britain reverses that equation.

Harry returns to a country where he has deep family ties, long-established relationships and a personal history that cannot be replicated in Hollywood. Dolan believes this means the “balance of power” inside the marriage could shift for the first time in six years.

That is his central thesis: the Sussexes may have moved together, but the move does not benefit them equally.

For Harry, Britain offers several things California could not.

Dolan believes Harry could receive a relatively warm response from much of the Royal Family apart from William. He suggested Princess Anne may be open to some form of reconciliation, Prince Edward may remain neutral, and King Charles is especially pleased at the prospect of seeing Archie and Lilibet more often.

That family dimension matters because Harry and Meghan’s July visit reportedly included a reunion between King Charles and the children after years apart.

The situation with William remains very different.

Dolan said the brothers are not on speaking terms and argued that the damage caused by Harry’s memoir Spare, the Oprah interview and the Sussexes’ documentary continues to shape the relationship.

He went much further in describing William’s feelings, saying it was his understanding that William “effing despises” Harry.

Dolan also believes William and Catherine could be placed under greater pressure simply by having the Sussexes physically closer.

Reports that Harry has explored Eton for Archie, where Prince Louis is expected to attend, have only intensified speculation that the two branches of the family could eventually be forced into greater contact.

Dolan interpreted that possibility as a potential form of pressure on William and Catherine, though this is his opinion rather than a confirmed motivation from Harry or Meghan.

He is equally pessimistic about what the move means for the monarchy itself.

In California, Harry and Meghan were distant enough to operate as what Dolan called a kind of “rival royal court.” In Britain, however, they could become an almost daily media presence.

He believes photographs, headlines, television coverage and constant discussion of the couple could pull attention away from working royals and create further instability around the royal brand.

But the person Dolan sees facing the most difficult adjustment is Meghan.

He argues that she is returning to a country where her approval ratings remain low and where she has fewer personal, professional and social connections than she has in California.

Dolan also questioned the strength of her current public brand, arguing that she no longer holds the same position as a global influencer or political figure and has already stepped away from acting, although she could potentially return to it.

That creates a difficult choice.

If Meghan stays primarily in Britain, Dolan believes her professional options could shrink dramatically. If she spends significant periods in America to restart or expand her career, then the marriage could become geographically divided.

He summarized the dilemma in blunt terms: remain in England and risk “career Armageddon,” or return to America and risk becoming an “absent wife.”

Those are speculative conclusions, but they reveal why Dolan sees the move as much more advantageous for Harry.

There is also the issue that may matter most to Harry personally: security.

Harry lost taxpayer-funded police protection after stepping back as a working royal and failed to win it back on appeal in 2025. The Sussexes are estimated in the article to spend around $3 million a year on private security.

Dolan believes living in Britain could change the debate.

He argued that Harry was unlikely to regain taxpayer-funded protection while permanently based in Montecito. But if the Sussexes are now headquartered in the United Kingdom, the political and practical calculation becomes different.

Any serious security incident involving Harry, Meghan or the children on British soil would immediately raise questions about whether authorities had done enough.

Dolan therefore views security as the biggest potential “prize” of the entire move.

He also interpreted Harry’s past behavior much more critically, accusing him of using family access and emotional pressure strategically in previous disputes. Those claims are Dolan’s personal interpretation rather than established facts, but they help explain why he believes Harry may now use permanent residence in Britain to strengthen his security case.

The irony is difficult to miss.

Harry once said he could not imagine bringing his family back to the UK under the existing security arrangements.

Now they have returned even though those arrangements have not fundamentally changed.

For Dolan, that contradiction is embarrassing for Harry, but it may also prove strategically useful if living in Britain ultimately causes officials to reconsider his protection.

That is why this return is so difficult to read as a simple homecoming.

For the monarchy, it could mean more distraction.

For William and Catherine, more tension.

For Meghan, more uncertainty about career and identity.

But for Harry, it may restore something he lost when he left in 2020: influence on his own territory.

Whether that is enough to outweigh the risks to his marriage, family relationships and public reputation remains uncertain.

But if Dolan’s analysis is right, Britain may not merely be where Harry has returned.

It may be the place where he finally regains leverage.
