Ten years after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship first captured global attention, their story remains one of the most debated chapters in modern royal history. What began as a romance that seemed destined to bring Hollywood energy and a new generation of popularity to the monarchy eventually became a public conflict involving family tensions, accusations, and the dramatic decision known as Megxit.

According to an analysis by the Daily Mail, journalist Sarah Vine looked back at the couple’s decade-long journey and focused on two little-known incidents that, in her view, revealed important details about the personalities and choices that shaped the years that followed.

The first story happened before Meghan was even connected to the Royal Family.

In 2015, during the opening of Soho House in Istanbul, a friend of Vine attended a glamorous event filled with celebrities, luxury parties, and exclusive guests. During the weekend, he noticed a young American woman approaching the hotel reception and complaining about a problem with her room.

According to the story, the woman appeared unhappy about the quality of a complimentary gift bag provided during the event. At the time, the guest did not know who she was. A year later, after seeing a photograph of Harry’s new girlfriend, he recognized her as Meghan Markle.

For Sarah Vine, this memory became symbolic because she believed it reflected a larger pattern: Meghan appeared to receive opportunities and privileges but still seemed dissatisfied with aspects of the world around her.

However, the article also makes an important distinction: Meghan was not solely responsible for the problems that followed.

When Harry began dating Meghan in 2016, many viewed her arrival as exactly what the monarchy needed. Unlike Harry’s previous relationships, Meghan was an established actress with her own career, international experience, and a modern public image.
