Katie Price says husband Lee Andrews finally contacted her from a Dubai prison call box after days missing, claiming authorities suspected him of being a ‘spy’

Katie Price has revealed the emotional words she shared with husband Lee Andrews during their first conversation since his disappearance in Dubai. The former glamour model said Lee contacted her in a brief two minute phone call from Al Awir prison on Wednesday morning after days of mystery surrounding his whereabouts.

Katie, 48, claimed Lee told her he had been arrested on suspicion of espionage after authorities in Dubai allegedly believed he was a “spy”. Speaking about the call, Katie said: “I told him how worried I had been and told him I loved him. It was very rushed, but he said the authorities out there thought he was a spy. I don’t know much more than that right now.”

The conversation marked the first time the pair had spoken since Lee vanished earlier this month, sparking growing concern from both Katie and his family. Reports previously claimed Lee had disappeared after sending alarming messages and voice notes to Katie saying he had been kidnapped while trying to travel to London to see her.

At the time, Katie dismissed reports he had been arrested, however it has now been claimed Lee is being held in Dubai’s notorious Al Awir prison following his detention on May 14. The prison, sometimes referred to as “Dubai’s Alcatraz”, has developed a grim reputation over alleged overcrowding and harsh conditions.

Lee’s father Peter had earlier confirmed his son was under arrest, saying: “Lee is OK. He has not been kidnapped but he is under arrest. I don’t know on what charge.”

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office also confirmed officials are supporting the family of a British man in the UAE. They said: “We are supporting the family of a British man and are in contact with the local authorities.”

It is understood Lee had been keeping a low profile in the days leading up to his arrest and had reportedly moved belongings out of his apartment beforehand. According to reports, Lee could be released within days after paying a four figure fine.

The drama comes after weeks of speculation surrounding Katie and Lee’s relationship following his repeated failure to fly back to the UK to join her for TV appearances. Katie recently admitted she had confronted Lee over repeatedly claiming he was travelling home before failing to arrive.

She previously said: “I’ve said to him, he needs to make it to the UK, because if he doesn’t, then it’s obviously something not right going on.” The former glamour model also confessed she felt “stupid” after appearing on live television without him while rumours continued to swirl online.

Despite the ongoing drama, Katie’s latest comments suggest she is still standing by her husband as the situation continues to unfold.
