Before she ever got to know Spencer Matthews personally, Vogue Williams had already formed a strong opinion about him based entirely on his public image. The television personality admitted that, before meeting her future husband, she assumed he was exactly the kind of person she would never get along with. Because of his reputation from reality television, particularly his years on Made In Chelsea, Vogue believed Spencer was a loud, reckless party boy and even described him as someone she thought was completely unbearable. However, when fate brought them together on the reality competition series The Jump in 2017, her first impression quickly changed and she discovered that the man behind the headlines was very different from the character she had imagined.

Vogue Williams, who is now 40 and expecting her fourth child with Spencer, recently opened up about the surprising change in her opinion during an episode of her podcast Vogue and Amber. While discussing whether she had ever completely changed her mind about a celebrity after meeting them, Vogue immediately admitted that Spencer was the perfect example.
She explained that before they worked together, she had already decided she would not like him. Hearing that Spencer would also be appearing on The Jump, Vogue remembered feeling frustrated because she had already judged him based on what she had seen and heard about him. In her mind, he was the “gobs***e” from television — someone she expected to find irritating and impossible to tolerate.
However, everything changed once they actually met. Instead of matching the negative image she had created in her head, Spencer surprised her from the very beginning. Vogue revealed that they instantly connected and quickly became close, saying that they got along “like a house on fire” from the first day they spent together.
She admitted that Spencer was nothing like the person she expected him to be. Rather than being arrogant or difficult, she found him to be kind, funny, charming, and genuinely enjoyable to be around. The experience made her realize that she had made an unfair judgment about someone she did not really know.
Vogue said meeting Spencer taught her an important lesson about not allowing public perceptions to define a person. She admitted that she should not have judged him before spending time with him because, despite her assumptions, she ended up becoming very fond of him.

Before meeting Vogue, Spencer had built a reputation as one of the more controversial personalities on Made In Chelsea. During his time on the show, he was often portrayed as a wealthy, carefree socialite known for his partying lifestyle and dramatic relationships. That image was far removed from the person he is today — a devoted father, husband, entrepreneur, and someone known for embracing a much healthier lifestyle, including marathon running.
Vogue had previously spoken about her first impression of Spencer and admitted that she had approached their first meeting with a fixed idea of who he was. She revealed that she initially believed he was almost impossible to like and even described him as a “sociopath” because of the reputation he had developed through reality television.
At the time, Vogue was also enjoying being single and was not looking for a serious relationship. She explained that even after discovering Spencer was completely different from what she expected, she initially thought he would simply become a good friend rather than someone she would eventually marry.
Their relationship eventually developed into something much deeper. The couple married in June 2018 during an intimate ceremony in Scotland, with Vogue pregnant with their first child at the time. Since then, they have welcomed three children together: Theodore, now seven, Gigi, six, and Otto, three. They are currently preparing to welcome their fourth baby.
Their journey to expanding their family has not always been easy. Vogue recently revealed that she and Spencer experienced two heartbreaking miscarriages before her current pregnancy. She described one of the losses as particularly painful, explaining that it happened after they had already reached an important stage of the pregnancy.

Vogue previously shared that her first miscarriage occurred very early, around four weeks, and although it was extremely upsetting, the couple later celebrated the arrival of their daughter Gigi in 2020. However, they faced another devastating moment when Vogue attended a 12-week scan after becoming pregnant again and learned that the pregnancy had not developed as expected.
She explained that the experience left her feeling emotional and even embarrassed, admitting that she struggled with feelings that her body had somehow failed her. Despite those difficult moments, Vogue and Spencer continued to support each other and are now looking forward to welcoming another member of their family.
As Vogue continues to embrace motherhood and her career in television and podcasting, her story with Spencer remains a reminder that first impressions can often be misleading. The man she once believed she would dislike became the person she built a family with, proving that getting to know someone beyond their public reputation can completely change the way they are seen.
